Shogun 2 Total War Hard Difficulty with Hojo

Got lazy and decided to play the lesser managing method of castle defense.

Imagine the whole world ganging on you.
For Shogun 2 Total War, after being legendary by winning battles - lots of them, the whole of Japan turn on you when an event called Realm Divide occurs.

Basically the Shogun and the rest of the clans in Japan is upping the difficulty in you winning the campaign - any way possible.

This poor castle of mine had been under assault 2 times in a row and this particular battle was the 3rd in the row in the same turn when the AI was under control.

Not to forget to mention it was assaulted by 3 stacked armies.

For a short calculation, 1 fully stacked army consists of 20 units in them.
1 unit's number depends on the type of unit so it varies.

I had no choice but to control the battle personally instead of using the handy auto-resolve when I am feeling lazy.

And since I wanted it to end as early as possible (which it didn't), I did not use slow-mo for this battle so I ended up neglecting a few of my units.

More like after I send them go "HUAT AR!!!" and I forgot about them!
2 units went gone case and I only managed to salvage 4 almost GG red health (dying) units.
Another 2 units dropped from green to yellow strength.
Meaning about half dead.
1 of the red strength unit only left 2 in it >.<

Good thing their reinforcements came in late!
And lucky me my battle timer by default was 20mins.
I think I might go nuts if I try to attempt very hard.

After this, there was actually a 4th assault on another castle...

I was too tired especially with my flu.
So I saved - quit the game - and went to bed~

And to my dear friends who once asked if I could micro manage - my answer still remains the same as you can see from the video....

I STILL CAN'T!

Worst Possible Start for Mass Effect 3?

Damn this was hilarious!
A caution for people who have not yet touch ME 1 and ME2 at all as it contains major plot spoilers.

I always played as a Paragon but I did have a Renegade Shepard.
I did not play complete as a Renegade though.
Too used to always playing as the good guy first.
Just so happens I have never had a game which I completed playing as the bad guy >.<

I should really make a new save game data soon.
After I get my Shepard to romance Thane this time round~

On a side note, I disliked Ashley so I sent her for the nuclear bomb on ME1.
._.
Kaiden > Ashley.
I don't know why but I just really don't like her.
She sounded like a bitch a lot of times to me >.<
Bitching alien this and that.

If I am Shepard in Mass Effect...

Damn, I like the graphics!

Mass Effect 3 is 'HBO Meets Star Wars'.

I highly recommend peeps to watch this in full screen.

Don't know why but the ones on BioWare Mass Effect web site is much clearer then those I see on YouTube.

Now I am wondering:
Will SwToR have the same level of graphics?

Without clicking the link or even try to read it you probably won't even know who is this guy and not even bother about it.

Even the link was provided by another Facebook friend who took his time despite being busy with his work and search for Corporal Palin's news.

Some people will just read and goes, "Oh, ok. People die every day anyway."
Which in reality is true.

But do you know?
About 107 people die around the world with each passing minute each with different kind of causes.
Yet an addicted celeb pops out top.

Then again speaking of a alcohol and stupid drug addict you guys would probably know who the hell he or she is.
I don't, and yet there's a big woo-ha.
And I am not interested in finding out who.

So what am I trying to say?

In a world's sense to majority of people:
A true hero < A famous addict.
A sad reality.

But then why do people like to blog and post on the internet all on the latest news especially when it comes to anything that involves big heads?

Our life are actually quite static.
I think it is because people wants to be a part of a loop thinking that by doing the in-news, there are in the flow and achieved something by "Oh, I know this news!" and start talking about it as if they are involved in the whole thing or affair, which again I find that stupid.

You really want to make a difference?
You can start by doing what you really want to do, not what you should do.
Then do what you should do for what you want to do.

You don't have to be part of the so-called world news and in-loop to live your life.
It's your life, your choice.
You can choose to ruin it or live it to your fullest cause at the end of the day, we are still going for an eternal nap.
No point hiding behind masks and act when you are outside of your comfort zone.

Life is short after all.

And before any reader of my blog misunderstand, I am not trying to act big or anything.
I am just voicing out in my own way since I generally do not speak much normally.
I am just feeling disgusted.

Disgusted at what?
After reading till the end, you still have no idea?
In short, people.

Not all though.
But the majority.

Dragon Age 2: Legacy

It's out today.
Unfortunately for me, I can't get it as it's a DLC not an expansion like DA:O's Awakening.

Meaning I can't get this from retail =(

Plus I was paying another sleep debt and ended up waking around 4pm.
Kinda late for me to go to the bank and apply for a debit card.

Decided to finally get one so I could order or pre-order from Steam, EA or get DLCs from Bioware.

Not to mention I have not touched any Fallout: New Vegas DLCs at all T_T

But as for FoNV, I might want to wait till GOTY edition if they have it.
As long as it's a full collection of the game I would gladly wait for it and then sell the older one if anybody wants it.
I still prefer a solid hard copy.

Typing of the Dead 2 (2007)

No way I can reach this typing speed without looking at my keyboard.
Yet =P
1 day, who knows?

Found the older TotD in my games folder where the characters are actually strapped with DreamCast and keyboards instead of guns in TotD2.
Good thing it's still working while running it in compatibility mode.

Sad to say my skills dropped madly.
And my special key skills are still GG.

One weird thing though.
As I am typing this post of mine I am actually touch typing without even the need to look at my keyboard. But sometimes I do need to look at my keyboard to find a single key when I start typing or when I have to key in my special long passwords.

But when I was playing the game earlier on every time I typed halfway I keep looking at my keyboard =P
Wondering what's up with that.
Or maybe the speed requirement is still kind of too fast for me now.

As for TotD2.
If I got my hands on it.
Well, I think I will definitely set the difficulty to very easy first! XP
That speed is currently super way beyond me >.<
And I still know people who can probably type faster than that!

Assingment 2 GG

This here, is the screen I had been staring at almost non-stop for the past 2 weeks.
I can hardly even sleep with all the code ideas swimming around in my head.
Which means this also includes my computer being on for 2 to 3 weeks plus!
Really need to give it a good pat and a good rest.
I can finally do my work without the need of worrying it dying on me like last time.
Believe or not even using multi tab browser like FireFox(I open a lot :P) I can get black screen of death while running on a core2duo.

Anyway.
I am not great at programming but I like it (and also hate it) =P
Makes no sense?
I would suggest you to give it a try or take a course for it.

That said, I tried my best already even though it was not enough.
Yet my bad habit and stubbornness keeps kicking in when I got ram into a problem.
Unless I find some way to at least make it work some how, I will end up getting stuck there for like... hmmm, I not sure! LoLx.

And then the rest of what I wana type happens to be in a chat I had with a friend yesterday night.

FYI, I actually started my assignment damn early.
But, ya, the break down part and the... "damn, still got time lah, relax relax, take a deep breath and turn your attention somewhere for a while"
I spent 2 weeks playing games till I recovered >.<

Good thing is I can also brush up my ASP.NET knowledge a bit more so I can deal with jobs that require this skill.
I think I will still stick to VB.NET for now but I really really wana move on to C side.
VB.NET is good for learning but can be.... inflexible I think.
Plus the bugs! :P
Anyway, all program will have bugs just like a human will have a flaw in them.
But then again the IDE.... oh well, never mind.

And with all my rantings, figures.
Looks like I will still stick to programming a while more even when I got a job~

Time for me to finally get a good rest.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Can I Nuke?

Nuke.
Requirements: 25 kill streak.

Yes I still can!
Ya well, old stuff but fun since I usually don't arm nuke.
It's always Predator, Cobra and Pavelow or Apache.
But I have been using Care Package, Predator and Harrier recently after we started playing again.

This ain't my first anyway.
Just a Nuke and for a handy blog topic update :P
Hiitsu nuked yesterday night too but I wasn't there to record it.

Sad to say, my real goal was not achieved as not all kills excluding my kill streaks was done with my Intervention T_T
The most funny part is when I was actually on form playing sniper and I did not arm Nuke in many many games.
Even my highest steak of 33 was done purely by sniping with Intervention in Wasteland w/o help from a KillStreak.
At least I feel satisfied for my 2nd goal - another Nuke before clicking the Prestige again.

Playing with friends is fun after all.

Most Majority of Singaporeans like to complain, do nothing and hope things change.
I am in the complain and do nothing but ignore waiting if there's going to be a change or not.

For me waiting for a change is equivalent of nothing.
I might as well live life my own pace and live it to the fullest my own way.

As long as I can earn my own up keep I am fine without those:
"Then you can earn more money, become very rich, have nice house nice car and enjoy luxuries" and become a lifeless idiot like a puppet to the system thinking it is normal.
Well, normalized.
I do not see the point of wearing a mask.
Or multiple.

But this student who wrote this on Facebook note spent a precious 1hr 45mins of his life to try to do for a change in this nice piece of article without knowing if the intended reader reads it.

About the WHY and the moral education value teaching part, let's cut short and go through some stuff we see almost daily.
Especially if you take bus and MRT.

Why is there a Courtesy Campaign in Singapore?
Admitting peeps here are not courteous?
I sincerely believe that Singapore is probably the only country that has a Courtesy Campaign (as per mentioned by one of my friends, forgotten who but I never check).


Sadly, most people only act when they feel that it looks bad for them (them and their image) even till now like on the MRT with the priority seats issue with the stickers on it.
This include random Stompers that likes to take a random busybody picture, post it, complain and do nothing. Typical.

Not that I do not like Stomps' interesting articles.
Let's just say Stomps' image got tarnished by ba-ba black sheep.
Seriously, someone should try asking this to their moral education staff.
Most probably the standard textbook answer for them is something along the line "to promote courtesy".
And then give them a big "WHY?"
I won't be surprised if one ask you to Google for the answer (laughs).

I Had A Dream

I had a dream last night.
Not a stupid one though it was damn LoL for me.

I dreamed that I went for

Kendo training.

Was already in gi and hakama, but I wondered how and why as I first saw myself wearing causal clothes.

Oh, and it was not the usual dojos I went before.
Some place I have never and not yet seen.
And it was so small and cramp.

Anyway, so I "magically" changed into my gi and hakama without knowing how and when.
AND
My Men, Dou and Tare.
Yep, "magically". Just a dream as I was pretty "awake" inside so I thought "let's not mind the small details".

Then I reached my hand downwards in front of me and I realized:

There was no Kote.

Confused (while in a dream, lolx), I turned towards my bogu bag.
Empty!

And thus I woke up on my bed,

with the kote.

W.T.F

Looks like when I was searching for the Kote in the dream I subconsciously went and pick it up and went to bed.

It's been so long I have had a dream and this weird one had to pop out after a night of a day's sleep debt.
Looks like I was damn tired and bored and my brain tried to "cheer" me up. Haha.

Ya, well mentioned in previous post I might want to do a review.
But feeling lazy :P

Anyway, this is definitely one of the top in my 2011 anime watch list.
The first thing that caught my attention was the art and our young heroin reminded me of Rozen Maiden dolls~

So here's a short little introduction regarding the story setting and the 2 main characters.

The story is set in 1924 in a fictional French speaking small European country known as Sauville and has a World War 1 setting counterpart. Their World War 2 counterpart is 10 years earlier than the real world though.

Sauville is a very unique country in a way that the people are into occult, urban legends and superstitions. In their political world they even have a Ministry of Occult.

And so it starts with our characters attending a prestigious school, St. Marguerite Academy with its reputation as the educational institute for children of the aristocracy and they met and the story goes on.

Even though she is 15 years old, Victorique de Blois (pronounce as Victorica) looks like a 10 year old kid but has an older voice.
Not to forget an extremely sharp tongue too.
The power of DNA! Haha.
It's genetic, including the golden hair and emerald eyes which are the trademarks of being a "Gray Wolf".

Not only that, she is also a genius who gets bored easily which she will complain that it gives her headaches.
Her multi-tasking ability is overkill too.
She could read several books in different languages simultaneously and still complain about being bored.

She "smoke" a pipe when solving cases, including those "declared" unsolvable without the need to inspect the crime scene most of the time for her half-brother but it is not lit.
So no, she does not smoke.

All in all, she is a shy and lovable heroin who had little chance of seeing the outside world as she was always in a "cage" and need "special permission" to go outside.
She enjoys eating sweets.

Kujo Kazuya, 15 years old. A transfer/exchange student from Japan.
Third son of a high ranking Japanese imperial soldier who feels overshadowed by his 2 more successful older brothers.

Since he thought studying is the only way to compete against his brothers, he left the military academy in Japan and enrolled into St. Marguerite Academy.
Despite feeling unrecognized as the third son, he is actually a fairly good fighter and smarter than both of his brothers. He doesn't know how to effectively use his intellect though and Victorique is the one who always have to explain the simplest matter to him. He is the simple minded type.

Unfortunately for him, he transferred in Spring and there's a legend regarding a Springtime Reaper who arrives during Spring which brings forth death or misfortune.
Couple that with his black eyes and black hair, the local students fear him and call him the Black Reaper which in turn results in him not making any friends.

Grevil de Blois, Victorique's half brother and eldest son of the main villain.
A terrible detective but I daresay a caring brother in his own ways.

He takes all the credits from the cases Victorique solves.
Not a main character but I still want to intro him with just this picture.

For good reasons I've decided not to show his face but being the smart reader you are you might have figured something out no? =D

So what's up with him?
I would say..
Go watch the anime!

I dislike spoilers so the most I would only do are short introductions.

The main plot advances nicely throughout the anime.
Not too fast and not too slow paced.
The most important thing, the ending was not rushed.

There have been too many anime I had watched that had an abrupt ending and it was horrible which pisses off lots of fans to no end.
It leaves us unsatisfied when it was actually much more.

The mystery genre is also a hard to find treasure for me.
So if you are also into it, why not give it a try?
No harm done =D

And previously before touching The Witcher 2, I was actually speed running through Mass Effect 2 somewhere last month.
Not that great as I find it kind of too easy even in higher level difficulties except one wrong move and your dead but I enjoyed it and hoped the 3rd installation installment will be even more better with lots of improvement not to mention we can finally catch a glimpse of Earth in the story.

NDP 2011 Theme Song - In A Heartbeat

And so I took another dive into YouTube wondering what is going to be this year's theme song and found this.

Not sure what others think of it yet but this is definitely better than the monstrosity Fun Pack.
Guess what.
Lyrics are done by the same Haresh Sharma who did the Fun Pack.

I don't really watch TV that much but the name and the voice was familiar.
All I had to do was type the name into Google and... "She is most popularly known as the first female finalist in Singapore Idol history as well as being the runner-up of the third season." - From wiki.
Good thing I do watch that program near the final parts.

It feels mono to me but personally, I would find it a pleasant and decent song especially since it washes off the unpleasantness from Fun Pack earlier for me though it could be better.

Why is it not good enough? (for me)
Songs I usually take a liking to on first hearing sticks into my head never ending.
And that song will be in a never ending loop in my iTunes.
I can listen to the same song the whole day without getting sick or bored of it.

This song however, has only 1 part temporary sticking in my head right now.
"In a heartbeat"
Other than that, not much impact done to me.
The same goes with the music because it's not only lyrics that will go on a loop, it includes the music for me too.
And I believe another song in my iTunes is going to over-ride it in a short while.

Couldn't find the lyrics online so I typed it out as I listened to the song.

But I am also amazed.
First time to see so many dislike.

I don't think it can be called Bad Romance parody at all even.
And neither should it be Fun Pack.
They should just call it Bad Taste.

Thank goodness this isn't the theme though.

Eggplant posted this on Facebook so I took the liberty of posting a new post in my blog due to boredom. Just got stucked again doing my assignment.

Anyway, have fun laughing!

I think I am losing a few screws in my brain

That said..
I woke up slightly before 9am just before my alarm starts buzzing.

Then I "stoned" a bit which seems like only a few minutes to me.
Guess what?
I checked the time after that "few minutes" and it's 10am!
WTF?!

Anyway, it was highly possible I might have dozed off and did not realize at all.

But then.
I packed up and left my house within 3 minutes which includes:
brushing my teeth and washing my face,
changing,
wearing my socks and shoes,
sayang my 3 doggies on the way out
and maybe another 2 minutes to reach the bus stop.

The time is then 10.05am, still salvageable I had hope.
Bus won't do the trick reaching school in time so I waited for taxi.
So for the next 10 minutes, no luck.
But at 10.15am a taxi appeared, I did not flag it though.
It came too late.
And I was already drenched in sweat.

The lecturer in which he is a really good teaching staff, is also strict with attendance.
By 10.20am if you did not sign your attendance you can kiss goodbye to it.

Eh, what time my class starts?
It's quite obvious if you have not figure it out yet.
10am.

Then I decided since the attendance is already gone case and most of us only attended the morning lecture for the sake of attending (but he sometimes teaches some good stuff), guess it won't hurt (I hope) in missing today's school.
Guess I will ask someone what he went through today.

What about afternoon lab?
My time slot starts at 3pm today though some of my group students might try and squeeze into the 1st slot.
First come first serve.
No space liao you suay.

The Witcher 2 - 1st Boss Fight Kayran Strategy

On PC. Hard Difficulty.

So to peeps wondering what I have been up to, well.
First, studying ASP.NET for my assignment because I sux at it.
Second, playing games because I got bored doing my assignment.

I have already completed the game once in Normal difficulty as the Hard difficulty caught me by surprised a few times unlike The Witcher Enhanced Edition which was fairly easy but enjoyable.
This game however will take some time for players to adapt as it is quite realistic (which I like!) like playing game on Hardcore mode.

Anyway, not about to talk about the game as a whole yet as I have not tried Iorveth's path. I completed it on Roche's path.

Some people had difficulty with their first boss fight (and some encounters I believe) but I would say that it is fairly easy once you get the timing right. Monster hunting helped a lot on my part XD
So if you happen to be a Monster Hunter, well, it should be easier for you just without the evade immunity.


So what do you need to do in order to prepare for this boss?

1. Adapt to the game, seriously. You just need a bit of practice.
   
2. The Mongoose potion is purely optional. As long as you do not get close to the middle you will not get poisoned at all. But I always prefer better safer than sorry :P
   Using Swallow or Tawny Owl are also optional. I would use Swallow though just in case I need to regen.
   
3. Do not get the Kayran Trap. Waste of money.
   
4. The basic Yrden sign and Quen sign is all you need. You can upgrade them if you wish depending on your playing style. I rely more on Quen personally.

If you have watched my video, the strategy for the Kayran is simple.

1. Avoid it's attacks and trap the tentacles one at a time starting from our left with Yrden and chop the Orange Orb with strong blows (right mouse button).
   *Do not chop the middle 2 main tentacles as it does not work.
   If you have problem avoiding the attacks, this is where Quen comes in handy as it absorbs damage for you.
   I usually cast it every time I have to engage so it had somehow became a habit.
   
2. Every time 1 tentacle is chopped it will throw a tantrum. Most of the tantrum attacks occurs in the middle and or on the right side.
   Again; Avoid.
   
3. Once both tentacles on the left are down, get rid of 1 more (that makes it the 3rd tentacle) on the right side. Avoid the attacks and move towards your screen slightly so you can catch a ride on the tentacles via QTE (RIGHT CLICK).
   
4. While riding, mash LEFT CLICK until it is done and wait for the QTE signaling for SPACEBAR.
   
5. Once you have landed, run towards the make-shift ramp, watch out for flying rocks and play a bit of timing game with its tentacles (again), run towards the edge of the ramp and a cut scene will follow signalling the end of the Kayran.

Some things to take notice.

1. If you do not see your QTE at all, try mashing the buttons in order. From what I know, it is fixed till now. Else, lower your graphics settings and it should appear. This seems to happen for some players due to graphic lag issues.
   In my video I got hit around twice due to lag while Fraps was recording and splitting the file.
   This game is very graphic demanding after all.
2. Sometimes while you run towards the ramp, instead of the tentacles trying to slap you, they will continue to throw rocks at you. I had personally encountered this situation twice already.
   If you are lucky you can still run towards the edge of the ramp. If not, well, just reload your game and it shouldn't trouble you the same way again. Works for me.

Well, I hope this small guide would help for players who still get stucked playing this game for the first time.
